summary: edgeful runs in the cloud — no VPS or special hardware required. you just need TradingView, a supported broker (for algo automation), and a stable internet connection.

what you don't need

you don't need a virtual private server (VPS) to run edgeful's algorithms. edgeful runs through cloud infrastructure — no local machine needs to stay always-on. you can trade from any device with a browser.

TradingView

TradingView is required for strategy testing, alerts, and algo execution. you'll run into limitations with a free account, especially around backtesting. this is why we recommend TradingView's Premium plan to take full advantage. of the edgeful algos.

the deep backtesting feature in TradingView's Strategy Tester/Strategy Report requires at least a TradingView Premium plan. that's where most of the useful algo setup work happens — optimizing settings, reviewing historical performance, and dialing in your criteria.

if you're planning to use the algos seriously, we recommend TradingView Premium. it also gives you more indicators on your charts and extended chart history.

you'll also want the appropriate TradingView real-time data package for the markets you trade — for example, CME for futures.

supported brokers

for algo automation, you'll need an active account with one of edgeful's 3 supported brokers: Tradovate, NinjaTrader, or ProjectX. standard account configurations work fine — no custom setup needed.

once you add your broker credentials in edgeful, the platform handles the connection. you'll configure a webhook URL for your broker account within edgeful, then place that webhook URL in a TradingView alert to enable automation.

one thing to note is if you are looking to automate to a ProjectX account you will also need to get a ProjectX API key. For users looking to automate their trading strategies, Edgeful provides alternatives such as TradingView alerts and webhook URLs, which can be connected to supported brokers or integration platforms. Edgeful does not currently offer direct API access for its algorithms or a public API. Instead, automation is achieved through TradingView alerts and webhook URLs, which connect to supported brokers or integration accounts. Users interested in API access can join the API waitlist to stay informed about future developments.

linking your TradingView account

to activate your algo indicators, you'll need to link your TradingView username to your edgeful account. once that's done, the indicators become available in TradingView automatically.

internet connection

a stable internet connection is essential. you'll need this to set up and optimize the algos.

recommended setup

recommended: TradingView Premium + Tradovate, NinjaTrader, or ProjectX. gives you full algo automation and access to deep backtesting in the Strategy Tester/Strategy Report.

optional: secondary device or mobile app for monitoring when you're away from your desk.

which edgeful plan do you need?

algo automation — including all 7 algo indicators, the algo analyzer, and automated trade execution — requires the all access plan. the essential plan gives you full access to all 150+ reports, the screener, WIP, edgeful AI, and TradingView indicators, but doesn't include algos.
