summary: edgeful's all access plan includes 4 day-trading algorithms — ORB, IB, gap fill, and engulfing. they run through TradingView, connect to your broker, and execute trades automatically. this is your starting point for everything algo-related.
what are edgeful's algos?
edgeful offers 4 algorithmic trading strategies that run as TradingView indicators. you apply them to a chart, customize your settings, set alerts, and edgeful routes the trades to your connected broker — or you can use them visually and manage entries yourself.
all 4 algos are optimized for day trading — entering and exiting within the same session. every algo is fully customizable — adjust timeframes, entry levels, profit targets, and risk limits. test everything in TradingView's strategy report (formerly known as the strategy tester) before going live.
heads up on terminology: the algos are the indicators — there's no separate "strategy tester" or "backtester" indicator to add. when you apply any of the algos to your chart, TradingView's Strategy Report panel opens automatically in the bottom-left of the screen with the backtest results. for the deep dive, see using TradingView's strategy report with edgeful algos.
the 4 algos
the 4 core strategies are ORB, IB, gap fill, and engulfing. three of them ship with additional variants for different risk-management styles, so you'll see 8 algo indicators in TradingView in total.
ORB (opening range breakout) — trades the first breakout outside the opening range (typically the first 15 minutes). works best in trending markets with clear directional bias. available in 3 variants:
ORB — standard single take-profit strategy
ORB — 2 TP — scales out at two profit levels, locking in early gains while letting the rest run
ORB — breakeven stop — moves your stop-loss to break-even after hitting the first profit target
IB (initial balance) — trades breakouts from the first hour of the session, entering on retracement back into the range at a user-defined level. better for ranging or mean-reversion setups. available in 2 variants:
IB — standard initial balance strategy
IB — breakeven stop — moves your stop-loss to break-even after hitting the first profit target
engulfing — trades candlestick patterns where a new candle completely engulfs the previous candle's range — a potential reversal or momentum signal. can be applied to any timeframe. available in 2 variants:
engulfing — standard single take-profit strategy
engulfing — 2 TP — scales out at two profit levels, locking in early gains while letting the rest run
gap fill — trades the expectation that price will return to the previous session's close after gapping at the open. works especially well on assets with significant overnight gaps. one version, no variants.
that's 8 algo indicators total in TradingView — 3 ORB variants, 2 IB variants, 2 engulfing variants, and gap fill.

common questions
do I need the all access plan for algos?
yes. algorithmic trading — including all 8 algo indicators, the algo analyzer, and automated trade execution — is only available on the all access plan.
does TradingView need to stay open?
no. TradingView alerts run on their servers — you don't need the browser or app open. you just need an active TradingView subscription with your alerts configured. see setting up TradingView alerts for algo automation for the full breakdown.
can I run multiple algos on the same ticker?
you can, but don't run variants of the same algo on the same chart — alerts will overlap. for example, don't run ORB standard and ORB 2TP on the same chart, or engulfing standard and engulfing 2TP. run different algos on separate charts or different tickers.
which variant should I use?
start with the standard version of the algo you're interested in. once you're comfortable, test the breakeven stop or 2TP variants in the strategy report to compare results. the variant that produces a better profit factor and drawdown on your instrument becomes your production setup.
can I use the algos manually instead of automating?
yes. you can use the indicators visually and manage entries yourself — automation isn't required. the algo shows entry, TP, and SL levels on your chart regardless of whether you've connected a broker.
where's the "strategy tester" indicator for ORB / IB / etc.?
there isn't one. the algo IS the indicator — apply ORB, IB, gap fill, or engulfing to your chart and TradingView's Strategy Report panel opens automatically in the bottom-left with the backtest. there's no separate backtester to add.
how do I enable "deep backtesting" in TradingView's strategy report?
you don't — there's no toggle. deep backtesting is included automatically for TradingView Premium and higher plans. if you're on Premium or above, the Strategy Report already pulls the extended bar range when you backtest — no setting to flip, no gear icon to click. on lower plans (Free, Plus, Essential), it's not available; the only path to it is upgrading your TradingView plan. for the full breakdown of what each plan tier unlocks, see deep backtesting in the strategy report article.
can I request a custom algo?
yes — reach out to support via the in-app chat to discuss a custom algo build.
