summary: quick answers on sessions and timezones, overnight windows, multiple tickers, charts, API access, build times and tokens for edgeful AI custom reports.

this article answers the questions that come up most once you start building custom reports. if you haven't built one yet, start with how to build custom reports with edgeful AI and come back here when you hit one of these.

how do I set the session or timezone in the build tab?

the build tab doesn't have a session or timezone picker. you set the window in the description itself.

so write it out in full: the start time, the end time, and the timezone. "from 02:15 to 17:30, Central European time" is clear. "the European morning" isn't.

then check the 3-month sample before you save. pick a couple of rows and confirm the first and last bars fall where you expect. if they don't, tell edgeful AI exactly what you see and it will redraft.

when you run the saved report, the session is set in the run window, and the results panel shows the ticker, session and date range it ran on. check that line before you read the numbers.

my overnight or Asia window isn't pulling any data

windows that cross midnight need to be described carefully. a few things to spell out in your description:

  • the exact start and end time, plus the timezone (for example 18:00 to 03:00 New York time)

  • that the window crosses midnight

  • which trading day each window belongs to, the day it starts or the day it ends

then look at the 3-month sample. if the overnight rows are empty or missing days, say so in the chat with a specific date, and ask it to fix how the window is built.

futures trading days start at 6:00 PM ET the evening before, which is a common source of an off-by-one day. the 6pm session rollover explained walks through it.

can I run one custom report across several tickers at once?

each run is on one ticker. the report is reusable though, so you build the logic once, then run it on NQ, then ES, then YM, and compare the results.

if you want built-in reports side by side across many tickers, the screener does that in one table.

can I see my report as a chart?

custom report results come back as a sortable table, and you can ask edgeful AI about them in chat. there aren't built-in charts for custom reports.

if you want a different view, ask for it in chat: a table broken out by scenario, a weekday summary, or a comparison of two time periods.

can I pull a custom report through the API?

not right now. the edgeful API serves edgeful's built-in reports only. saved custom reports run inside edgeful AI.

why does a build take a few minutes?

each build writes analysis code and runs it on market data, then checks the result. a simple report comes back quickly; a complex one with lots of columns and conditions takes longer. let it finish before you send a follow-up, since each follow-up starts a new draft.

I got a message about not having enough tokens

custom reports use your monthly edgeful AI token allowance, the same as chat. if you see a message saying there aren't enough tokens to generate the report, your allowance for the month is used up.

your allowance resets on your subscription renewal date, and you can check what's left in usage details in the edgeful AI sidebar. if you need to keep going before it resets, message us in the chat. the token details are in edgeful AI.

the biggest saver: build one wide report with every column you might want, save it, then explore it in chat. lots of small rebuilds use far more.

can I change a report after I save it?

no. saving locks the logic and the columns. you can rename or delete a saved report, but to change how it works you'll need to build it again from your prompt. that's why it pays to check every column before you save.

my saved reports disappeared

saved reports belong to the account you built them on. if you signed in with a different email or a different sign-in method (Google vs email), you may be in a second account. sign out and back in with the original one. account access issues: common fixes covers this.
